Marketing and advertising professionals are always juggling multiple tasks—crafting creative briefs, building media plans, analyzing data, and making decisions that drive campaigns forward. It’s a fast-paced environment, and the pressure to stay on top of everything can be overwhelming.

The link to agents is in the end.

That’s why I’ve been experimenting with something new: AI agents specifically designed for people working day in and day out in the marketing and advertising world. Whether you’re a brand manager, account manager, or strategic planner, these AI agents are here to help streamline some of those repetitive tasks and offer support where it’s needed most.

What Are AI Agents?

In simple terms, AI agents are digital assistants that help automate specific tasks, analyze data, and generate content. They’re designed to mimic human behavior, perform tasks you’d normally do yourself, and offer suggestions to make your job easier. But the key difference between AI agents and general-purpose models like ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini is that these agents are specialized—they focus on particular functions within marketing and advertising. And they don't need prompting.

My Experiment with Custom AI Agents for Marketing Professionals

After experimenting with AI, I’ve created two AI agents designed to help people in marketing, whether you're working in brand management, account management, or strategic planning:

1. Creative Brief Writer Agent

This agent is designed for brand managers, account managers, and strategic planners. Instead of drafting a creative brief from scratch, this AI assistant helps you create the first draft quickly by asking the right questions and structuring the content in a way that aligns with your campaign goals. It saves time and ensures that the brief is aligned with your brand’s voice and objectives.

2. Media Planning Assistant Agent

The Media Planning Assistant helps you build a media plan before you get into the actual media planning. It helps you assess whether your campaign objectives align with the right channels to maximize impact. You’ll get a rough roadmap to tweak and build upon, rather than starting from square one, allowing you to make more informed decisions early on.

How These AI Agents Are Different from ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini

Now, you might be thinking: “Isn’t ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini enough for tasks like this?”

The short answer is no—and here’s why.

While general-purpose models like ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini are great for a wide range of tasks (like chatting, writing essays, or answering questions), they don’t specialize in the very specific needs of marketing professionals. These models are like having a Swiss Army knife—they can do a lot of things, but not always the way you need them to. You dont have to do prompts in these AI agents.

Here’s how AI agents differ:

  • Specialization: The Creative Brief Writer and Media Planning Assistant are designed specifically for marketing tasks. While ChatGPT can help you generate a creative brief or brainstorm media channels, these agents are tailored to understand the intricacies of marketing, such as the importance of aligning creative briefs with brand strategy or crafting media plans that optimize for campaign impact.

  • Workflow Integration: These agents are integrated into marketing workflows. The Creative Brief Writer asks targeted questions to create a brief that fits your campaign. The Media Planning Assistant helps you assess media strategies before diving deep into the planning. General-purpose models don’t follow structured workflows tailored to specific tasks like this.

  • Efficiency: These agents are designed to save time. They help you get from A to B quickly with data-driven recommendations and content generation. ChatGPT and others are great at conversations and general advice but may not always offer the level of precision you need for specific marketing goals.

  • Iterative and Actionable Output: While ChatGPT can help you get started, it doesn’t offer the same iterative and refined outputs that these agents do. For instance, the Media Planning Assistant provides you with a draft that you can refine based on real campaign objectives. General-purpose AI might offer suggestions, but it won’t give you a structured, iterative plan to optimize like this.

Why Your Feedback Is Crucial

These agents are still in their first draft phase, and your feedback is invaluable. I’m constantly refining and improving them, and your input will help shape these tools to better meet the needs of marketing professionals.

Here’s what I’m particularly curious about:

  • Usability: How easy are the agents to use? Do they make your workflow smoother?

  • Functionality: Do they help you generate quality drafts that make sense for your campaign?

  • Use Cases: Can these agents be adapted for other tasks in the marketing workflow?

  • Customization: What specific features or customizations would make these agents more useful for your work?

What I’ve Learned About Building AI Agents

Building these AI agents has been an incredibly educational journey. Here’s what I’ve learned so far:

  • Data is Key: The better the data you feed the agent, the better its recommendations will be. It’s all about high-quality, relevant data.

  • Iteration is Everything: These agents are not perfect right away. They need constant iteration and testing to refine their outputs. Building AI agents is a process.

  • Balancing Simplicity and Power: You want AI that’s intuitive to use but also powerful enough to make a meaningful impact.

  • Feedback Loop: To improve these agents, I need real-world feedback. That’s where you come in. The more input I get, the better I can make these tools for everyone in the marketing industry.

Get Involved: Test the Agents

The Creative Brief Writer and Media Planning Assistant agents are now live and ready for testing! I would love for you to try them out and share your thoughts. What works? What doesn’t? What would make these tools even better?

AI is transforming the marketing world, and these agents are just the start. While they’re still evolving, I believe they can make a big impact on how marketing professionals work—by saving time, improving workflows, and helping create better campaigns faster.

I’m excited to see how these tools evolve and how you, the marketing professionals, can help shape their future. Together, let’s build the AI tools that will take marketing to the next level.
